The Benicia Brewery
was owned and operated by Richard Massle and German immigrant Gustav Gnauck in the early 1900’s. The Brewery was well known for Domestic Peerless Steam Beer. The name was later changed to Benicia Soda Works due to Prohibition. Gustav Gnauck served on Benicia’s Board of Trustee’s for 12 years and was the Mayor of Benicia in 1897.

Devil Mountain Brewing Co. moved from Walnut Creek to Benicia. Later closing its doors in 1995. Devil Mountain relocated to Cincinnati, OH.
