OUR PROCESS

At Bruehol Brewing, we are committed to bringing the neighborhood brewery back to reality and making you that better beer. We want you, local residents to be able to visit & enjoy a local craft brewery, to taste the daily offerings, talk to the brewers about the processes and ingredients that led to the glass, pick whatever brew suits your mood, and take some home with you. We only use the freshest, purest ingredients and earnestly brew each batch as if it was only for ourselves. We add no artificial additives to our beers. The reinheitsgebot, a Bavarian beer purity law passed in 1516 states that no brewer shall use anything other than water, barley, hops, and yeast to their beer. We don’t like to limit ourselves or your beers obeying a 500-year-old German law. We do however respect the spirit of the law by using only pure ingredients to make great beer while hiding nothing from the people. It’s our new reinheitsgebot, and it is our pledge to you! We strive to be as environmentally aware and sustainable as possible. The brewery’s spent grain and hops are donated to local allotments to be used as compost and horse feed. Our policy of using green renewable energy helps to fight climate change; it costs a little more but the benefit to our community is priceless.

Water
The brewing process starts with water. Our water flows from Lake Barryessa and surrounding Valley’s, providing us with a consistent source of pure local water.

Grain
The ­best Pilsner, Maris Otter, Vienna & Munich Barley is sourced from German & British farms by our Local distributors. We rely on their skill and judgement to bring us the freshest-natural grains. It is this fresh malt goodness, that easily earns its place in our beer.

Malt
Malt forms the backbone of our beers, producing flavors ranging from grainy maltiness, sweet toffee to chocolate and coffee. We extract the sugars, color and all the goodness from the malt by mashing it in with water at just the right temperature.

Hops
We boil hops for bitterness to balance out the sweetness from our malts at the start of a brew and then then add a balanced amount of hops at the end to create the distinctive aroma and flavors which give our beers real character.

Yeast
Our traditional yeast strains help to bind all the other ingredients together, magically turning sugars from the malt into alcohol, producing a synergy subtle flavors and ­fine carbonation.

Brewer
Our brewers use their technical skill, experience and patience to hand craft all of the natural ingredients into a beautifully balanced beer. Each brewer stamps their own individual mark on Bruehol beers with their passion and dedication.
